Hi,
i would like to suggest that Pd patches from the documentation should not output audio right away when they are opened, as is the case with A01.sinewave.pd Perhaps this can be revised at a future update?
Thanks! Peter

I agree that documentation should not output audio right away.
however, there's only a single example that does play audio as soon as the DSP is turned on, which is A01.sinewave.pd
this is the very first example for working with audio in Pd, and I can understand that the idea is to keep this as simple as possible - without any magic involved. a consequence of the first objective is, that there is only a single button you have to interact with in order to produce sound. this is the "turn DSP on" button. a consequence of the 2nd objective is, that there's no convoluted subpatch that somehow raises the gain when its useful.
one possibility to keep the patch simple and still not produce any sound on start, would be to automatically turn *off* the DSP when opening the A01.sinewave.pd would this be any better?

Good suggestion! I nevertheless think this would introduce yet another confusion when other patches, that are already open at this time, stop working.
I'd suggest to add a simple [*~] volume control with [0.1< and [0 < messages and no subpatches.
best, Peter
