Hi
I've been a max-msp user for more than 6 years now but i'm very new to PD
i've allready install PD-GEMS on my windows 98 and it works great.
but in linux, i only have audio working. no midi and no gems.
i put the gem.dll file in the object folder (like with windows) but it doen't seem 2 be d case 4 linux.
and is there somewhere instructions on how 2 setup midi for linux?
thanks

objects which are compiled for windows (xx.dll) are not compatible to objects compiled for linux (xx.pd_linux).
the linux port of gem is mantained by guenther geiger, you can download it at
ftp://xdv.org/pub/gige/gem
depending on your distribution, you might need to compile it yourself.

if you happen to own a soundblaster live! you are out of luck: pd does not support midi under linux (it does under win)
any other cards working under linux shall work for pd as well.
be sure to read the pd documentation by Miller Puckette,
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/Pd_documentation/index.htm
more sources of information are http://pure-data.org and the archive of this mailing list http://iem.kug.ac.at/mailinglists/pd-list/

That's news to me - I have that card and MIDI is working fine!

sorry, i was not precise:
MIDI in does not work if you use OSS, but it works under ALSA.
