Hi,
I would like to know the set up you guys are using running MIDI on OSX, (interface, special pd configuration etc...). Since my Motu does not seem to work, I would like to know the other possibilities I have left.
Thanks Alex
hi Alex
I'm using midiman 2x2 + iCubeX pd -midiindev 2 -midioutdev 2
PowerPC 1 GHz Dual 750 Mb RAM. Sometimes, the same set up with an iBook 500 MHz 256 Mb RAM
good luck

Hi
Thanks for your answer. Why do you need to start pd with -midiindev 2 -midioutdev 2 ? Have you got some other devices on port 1 and 0(if we can use it)? As for me I have my Motu as the device 1(that is the only one present in the Audio/Midi OSX app) but even if I implicitly start pd on device 1, my console tells me that the device ID is invalid for the midi out port and redirects the midi in port on device 0 and the midi out port on device 1 (which still does not work). If I do pd -midiindev 2 -midioutdev 2, he does the same thing and redirect the midi in port to device 1 and the midi out port to device 3.
Did you encounter any problem with the midiman ? What is the iCubeX ?
Thanks Alex

hello Alex
oops! excuse me! it was pd -midiindev 0 -midioutdev 2... i typed too much quickly
why? well... i've never known why the thing are as they are :)
when running pd with the -listdev option, i get some thing as
0: CoreMIDI, Port B (input) 1: CoreMIDI, Port B (input) 2: CoreMIDI, Port B (output) 3: CoreMIDI, Port B (output)
i've never tried with -midiindev 1 -midioutdev 3 ...
but it should work...
yes, i've just tried it... i get this on the terminal
ibook:~] josemanu% /Applications/pd36/bin/pd -midiindev 1 -midioutdev 3 using default input device number: 0 using default output device number: 1 nchan 2, flags 3, bufs 8, framesperbuf 256
no, i've had not many problems... the same problems i've found in max/msp with midimand an other usb interfaces... sometimes they disappear...
icubeX is a digitizer for incoming analog control signals and trig some actuators...
