sorry, but I cant simple take these things as given :) why do you think that mthe window manager makes a great impact on pd? anyway, I'm using (currently) kde 2.1 and xfree 4.2 (yes I know I'm a latest-version-junkee). I do personally think that it's because of the alsa-driver, which seems to be some kind of troublesome. I have another question: I realised that alot of stuff around pd+gem is austrian- and furthermore graz-based. as a matter of (sad) fact I'm also from graz. would anyone around like to show me his working pd/gem-system?
regards
mimo

I had some static indeed when running pd with alsa's oss emulation but they disappeared completly when using pd -alsa (and -rt)
(As mentionned before it may be your Xfree video card driver too, check the man page for it for a "PciRetry" option)
