I have another rediculous wishlist item to add. I would like to see the ability to simply add objects to the signal graph by dropping them over the patch cord at the point where you want to add them. I made a little animated example:

Is this practical? I think it would be fun for realtime patching...

It could be good, but it could also lead to chaos. It might be too easy to do, espcially since it would not be easy to undo. Also, in a complicated patch, it might be hard to place a new object down without spliting a cord.

looks like a great idea to me, i wouldnt worry so much about the accidents though since it highlights the chord its about to split. as for undo, in theory the undo/redo system in pd would of course need to cover this case.

maybe together with a pressed key to make that splitting optional, avoiding accidents. dragdrop with shift or control or applesomething...
