Hi list
Very occasionally PD seems to start up running at 48000 sample rate (based on time speeding up and pitch going up by around 10%), even though Jack (which it uses) and my .pdrc are both set on 44100. The PD and qjackctl settings both still say 441000. Most of the time it uses 44100 fine, but when it does decide to use 48000 instead the only way to make it work seems to be rebooting my computer: restarting PD and Jack make no difference.
I'm running PlanetCCRMA PD 0.37.1 devel with a Tascam US-122 on Fedora Core 1, so apologies if this has been fixed already, but I couldn't find anything about it. Any ideas anyone?

This sounds really strange. Are you sure your files all have the correct samplerate ?

Hi list, Guenter, thanks for the reply.
It happens even when I don't use sound files at all (I presume that's what you meant). Osc~s (etc.) are slightly sharp, metros run slightly too fast compared to system clock... by a ratio of 48000/44100 (hence I think pd thinks I want 48000). If you meant config files, as I said my .pdrc and jack settings are all on 44100 and it's all normally fine. I would guess it only happens 1 out of 100 times...just annoying the only thing to fix it seems to be rebooting. Is there anything I can try next time it happens (presumably a gig...) to see what's going on? Or is there anywhere apart from .pdrc and qjackctl settings where sample rate can be stored?

Hi,
You can try to use other programs at the same time. I think it is like pete said more likely a problem with the soundcard, in which case everything should have changed, not only pd.
That might explain why everything seems to be normal, its just the card that decided to run at a different rate (And told noone about it). In this case it might be a real hardware problem.
Might this be an explanation ?

That's a good idea, thanks. I guess it can't really be something that general if no one else has ever encountered it. Next time it happens I'll try a different sound program, and post back with what happens. Please can anyone with a Tascam US-xxx post if it happens to them too please?
