Hi,
On new Ubuntu computers, I've installed Gem via Deken (find externals), but it was not enough. I need also to install it with apt-get install gem. Some dependencies seems required, may be opengl libs ?
Computers (cat /proc/version) : Linux version 4.4.0-81-generic (buildd@lgw01-02) (gcc version 5.4.0 20160609 (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.4) ) #104-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 14 08:17:06 UTC 2017
I've installed Gem via Deken (find externals), but it was not enough
Please could you provide errors returned by Pd console log 4 (all), while running '-verbose'?

After removing gem linux package, this error message appears in Pd - verbose mode : "Gem.pd_linux: libftgl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
When I "sudo apt-get install libftgl2", it is ok.

If you remove the gem package, you also can't install all the gem-plugins that you may want to be managed by apt-get

well, if you want to compile your own gem externals then you need to download and compile the gem source right?
