As fun as it was doing broadcasting last night to Montreal we
seemed to run into a huge amount of problems getting shoutcast~ and mp3amp~ to talk to each other.
I know that I haven't had any problems using shoutcast~ before and
people using winamp and iTunes (and I think mplayer and xmms) have both been able to tune in, but for some reason both Maurizio and Michal couldn't tune in using mp3amp~. As far as I can tell it either gave them errors, or gave them only the left channel with some sort of granulating treatment.
Anyway, I don't know where the problem lies. I just realised I was
using shoutcast~ .3d (didn't know there was an update), so that might have been a problem.
If anyone's had any further experience with this the speak up,
maybe it would help any development for either projects to fix whatever the problem is.

Hi David,
I can only speak for shoutcast~ and shoutamp~.
shoutcast~ works very stable, we have it running here 6 hours every day for a local radio station (in fact 2 shoutcast~s and one realcast~ on one Windows machine) without any trouble. 0.3g is the latest version.
shoutamp~ sometimes makes trouble but I'm not shure where this comes from. I often get error messages from lame that complain about corrupted mp3 data. version 0.5 is the latest one I have and it stull suffers from this problems.
There is one thing that makes the difference between mp3amp~ and shoutamp~: mp3amp~ is made for 'fast access' to the stream, i.e. it starts playing quite fast after you conect. shoutamp~ is made for 'safe playing', i.e. it fills a buffer and starts playing a bit later but is then capable of surviving bad network connections.
If you just need audio connection between two Pd's (wihtout any 'other' (non-Pd) listeners) I would recommend using oggcast~ and oggamp~. oggamp~ works much more stable / reliable and we used it on a server for weeks.
I could set up a shoutcast~ stream if you need one for testing.
