hmm.
did pd0.36 allow [*~] to take a signal on it's right input?
i did a patch that worked fine at a friends house with pd0.36 under windows and now under linux with 0.37 it don't seem to work right.
and, does anyone else get clicks when they connect and use a slider or a [line] to a [*~] ??
what worked smoothly with [line~] on the right inlet of [*~] no longer works. doing a [line] to the right inlet of [*~] makes clicks.
any suggestions. I must be missing something.

Hello

With version 0.36, I think that :
** if you don't initialize [*~], its right input has to be a signal ** if you do initialize it, like this for example : [*~ 1], its right input has to be a non-signal

A signal is allowed as long as you don't specify a float as argument. So [*~] multiplies two signals, [*~ 0] multipies a signal left with a float right.

Everyone, I suppose. Use a line~ to control a [*~].

When I connect a [_slider] to a [*~ 1], I don't get any clicks, though it is always better to add an interpolating [line] between those objects (especially when you want to make jumps with the slider)
Hello
I completely modified my PC configuration recently, and I have no more multi- track recording / editing software. I'm looking for something free or very cheap, very simple and professionnal. Which one do you use ?
There is Ardour under Linux ; what about Windows ?
Thanks

Audacity is fine for Windows - and Linux, but now there's Ardour.

Thanks for these suggestions
I often used Pro Tools Free and Audacity under Windows
Pro Tools Free : unfortunately, only for Windows 98 / Me (!) -- should work under XP in Compatibility mode though Under W98, it crashed a lot when I used it, maybe it is rather suited to Apple computers ?
Audacity : this one is getting better and better, but there is still no dynamic trimming of the beginning and ending of the waveform regions ... (or else how do you do ?)
Ardours looks like being the best free multitrack DAW program ; I will use it under Linux ... when my sound card is compatible again (hdsp) ! If anyone knows a similar program for WinXP, this information is welcome.
have a nice day,
J

Ardour is for professional multitrack recording and mixing. My favorite "domestic" sound editor is Rezound: http://rezound.sourceforge.net/
