IOhannes,
I'm afraid that "Macintosh OS 10.10 or newer" really means "this is our new-style app, and we are pretty sure that it won't run on older versions of macOS", and the claim of "10.10" is not really tested for :-/
Being familiar with Miller’s precise and forthright writing style, I very much doubt he would go in for such equivocation. Surely he wouldn’t promote untested claims.
could you verify, whether you can still download and open the Pd-0.55-2 package (there's a link for "all software")? if so, could you send us the actual download link you used?
I downloaded from https://msp.ucsd.edu/Software/pd-0.55-2.macos.zip. I can still download and open the package from there.
sorry for causing inconvenience, but I think this is much easier for you to test than for me.
No inconvenience at all. Thanks for your help with this!

thanks a lot.
i can confirm, that the Pd-0.55-2 images were built on a Mojava VM, whereas the Pd-0.56-2 were built on a Monterey VM.
both were using the identical hdiutil create
invocation to build the
DMG, but apparently it does something different on newer macOS.

Looks like they just changed the default filesystem used. man hdiutil on my system (macOS 15) yields:
-fs filesystem where filesystem is one of several options such as HFS+, HFS+J (JHFS+), HFSX, JHFS+X, APFS, FAT32, ExFAT, or UDF. A full list of supported filesystems can be found in create -help. -fs causes a filesystem of the specified type to be written to the image. The default file system is APFS.
I suggest using -fs HFS+ on the CI for now...
