DESCRIPTION:

A one day colloquium focusing on issues surrounding the marriage between electroacoustics and the performing and media arts. Topics include interdisciplinary collaboration, artistic and technological innovation, comprovisation, human-machine interface, aural and visual perception, laptop orchestras/ensembles, notation, preservation, stage techniques, audience interaction, related education and pedagogy, social and cultural contexts, and others.

Admission is free but requires registration.

Presenters include keynote speakers Bob Gluck and Neil Rolnick, Per Bloland, Thomas Ciufo, Rebecca Danard, Mara Helmuth, David Ogborn, Alyssa Lai, Stephanie Moore, David Rothenberg, Benjamin Schroeder, Isabella Stefanescu, Klaus Engel, Miles Thorogood, and Alan Tormey.

The evening concert consists of performances by Neil Rolnick and Bob Gluck, Liselyn Adams (with Jérôme Delapierre, Navid Navab, and Pamela Reimer), Adam Basanta, Thomas Ciufo, Rebecca Danard and Mara Helmuth, and KimMin Kyu.

Concerto for T-Stick and two laptop orchestras

Thirty laptopists from The Concordia Laptop Orchestra (CLOrk) and McMaster’s cybernetic orchestra will collaborate with T-Stick performer D. Andrew Stewart in a live performance at the DB Clarke Theatre.

The concert will also include networked performances by CLOrk and The Cybernetic Orchestra, utilizing inter-client communication and control over wifi.

The Cybernetic Orchestra is directed by David Ogborn and CLOrk is directed by Eldad Tsabary.
