This is an interesting comment which sparks my interest about the tcl/tk interface to Pd in general. Is there any documentation on this topic (don't flame me if it's obvious, I didn't even google it yet). I do think that the ix mods to the interface are a clever idea, and I'd like to see this develop more. Also, when will we fix the screen management so that too many objects don't screw up everything?

hi, ive compiled tcl+tk from source and installed into /usr prefix, and also installed pd into /usr/lib/pd (launched via /usr/bin/pd) but i get these error msgs, it seems pd is making up a TCL_LIBRARY variable, ignoring any TCL_LIBRARY variable already set by the environment, and generally cant find stuff..:
port 5400 TCL_LIBRARY="/usr/local/lib/pd/tcl/library" TK_LIBRARY="/usr/local/lib/pd/tk/library" "/usr/local/lib/pd/bin/pd-gui" 5400 Application initialization failed: Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories: /usr/local/lib/pd/tcl/library /usr/local/lib/tcl8.5 ./lib/tcl8.5 ./lib/tcl8.5 ./library ./library ./tcl8.5a4/library ./tcl8.5a4/library
This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly.
locate init.tcl: /usr/lib/tcl8.5/init.tcl /usr/src/tcl/library/init.tcl Tcl is installed properly, as all of the demos and my standalone Tk scripts work fine...
is there any trick to getting it to getting pd to listen to TCL_LIBRARY variable, or god forbid check in /usr/lib by default, since 99.9% of the time the tcl stuff is going to either be in /usr, /usr/local or relative to wheerever the rest of pd files are..
