Yeah, that’s also why I wen the libtool build approach for building Portaudio as they don;t seem to update their configure scripts too often.

Anyhow, that's a different problem from getting automake to work. If someone would just contribute new API support to portaudio we'd be saved :)

But perhaps you can add teh -Wno-deprecated -Wno-error C compiler flags to makefile.mac and get away with it anyhow…?
This does not work as the CFLAGS do not propagate down to the portaudio configure step. Trust me, I spend quite a while on getting that to work...
