what linux distribution will work best for pd on mac?
(mine is a G4 cube, running os9 at the moment)
anyone got a link?
ubuntu goes ok, it is quite easy to install, but i havent managed yet to setup ALSA properly, i didnt try very hard so i am not sure how difficult this is. Pd was giving me some weird noises at some moments. www.ubuntu-linux.org
also, it's a long shot, but there's no way i can partition my mac hard drive without doing a full wipe, is there?
there are some commercial softwares to do this. google and youll find couple of them. I am not sure how good they are. I did a full wipe and it was really easy to do. the basic process is to start the computer with the mac intaller dvd on the drive and holding C down, then from the file menu you select to use the mac Disk utility. With it you create the partitions you need, then install OSX on one and later Linux in remaining ones. With ubuntu (and i biet with debian will be the same) I did partition my HD in two (one for osx and one for data) then left few megs of free space. Later when i installed Ubuntu i choose to install it automaticly in the free space, it did it quite well, all worked fine.
for more details ask in the ubuntu list
