Thanks Ivica, I guess I wasn't clear in my original post. I tried to install the using the links to arm builds for the current and previous releases of purr data but the links are not the arm builds.

Sounds like you may have tried installing the wrong version.

There should be an armv6 or v7 (as opposed to x86 or amd64)  build

designed specifically for the RPi. Hope this helps.
