While not suggesting that I'd be able to help, can you provide some
more information, ideally providing a minimal patch that triggers the
behaviour?

Also what versions are involved: OS, Pd, comport?

Open comport serial communication
activate dsp
Set metro object to less than 50 ms
Toggle metro on to crash
