Had a look at [pdp_ieee1394] .. but all my webcams are USB ..
what I really want to know is what object will allow me to open these webcams like  [pdp_v4l] (for linux) in OS X .. as per Example13 in the browser ..
.. I've attached a shot of the patch so it clearer ...

With a webcam on firewire the [pdp_ieee1394] object is for you.
Now have a look at pdp or pidip in reference.
