Iohannes,

did not have any better idea, had to make a fresh install of my system, meanwhile upgraded to Ubuntu 19.04 and convinced myself that something has been changed in the pylon official installer, and 5.2 is not compatible with the pluginPylon in Gem.
5.0 still works fine.

Thanks a lot!

Best,
Popesz

:-)

immediate remedy:
remove the "/usr/lib/puredata/extra/Gem/gem_videoPYLON.so" file.

i'd be interested in getting a backtrace of the crash.
i'd have expected Pylon to be either binary compatible (for minor
releases) OR to rename their libraries so that appications using an
older SDK would fail to load (rather than crash).
