hi,
maybe somebody can comment on that:
the intention for the -rt flag for the patch i use was to reduce noise which i got because of heavy data sorting by a shell script which provides the data for the patch.
by now using the -rt flag it even gets worse, the somtimes noise mutated to dropouts + heavy clicks.
i call the shell scripts via the shell external. is it possible that the execution of the scripts is given priority because of calling them from pd -rt ? if yes would there be a way around this ?

hi erich,
afaik suid runs the program under the owner's name. so in your case pd has to be owned by root (the patch does not matter) in order to run as root's process.
chown root:spinne pd
should do it.

hi,
i want to run pd with rt flag as a user. so i searched the archive on how to do this.
besides that there were several solutions regarding chmod - non if these are working for me.?!%
at the moment its set to chmod 4755:
-rwsr-xr-x 1 spinne spinne 1839956 Oct 4 13:18 pd but i get a: realtime setting failed because not root
if it works with -rt, should i get some output on the terminal regarding rt capapilities ?
is */bin/pd the only file which needs a chmod ?
i would very thankful for some suggestions
merci
