Sorry to still be bugging you guys with this but I pretty sure I'm doing something wrong. I cd into the flext directory and typed bash build.sh pd gcc and it created the config-mac-pd-gcc.txt file in buildsys:

alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~ alex$ cd ~/desktop/flext
alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~/desktop/flext alex$ bash build.sh pd gcc
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A default system configuration file has been created.
Please edit ./buildsys/config-mac-pd-gcc.txt
to match your platform, then start again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
make: *** [buildsys/config-mac-pd-gcc.txt] Error 1

I modified this file to reflect my system and then typed sudo bash build.sh pd gcc install and it created the config file:

alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~/desktop/flext alex$ sudo bash build.sh pd gcc install

We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
    #2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.

Password:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A default package configuration file has been created.
Please edit config.txt, then start again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
make: *** [config.txt] Error 1

Now I'm stuck I don't think I need sndobj and stk support I just want to compile fluid~ cause I got a whole whack of sounfonts but now when I try to install I get this message:

alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~/desktop/flext alex$ sudo bash build.sh pd gcc install
make -f ./buildsys/gnumake-sub.mak PLATFORM=mac RTSYS=pd COMPILER=gcc BUILDPATH=./buildsys/ PKGINFO=package.txt BUILDCLASS=flext USRCONFIG=config.txt USRMAKE=build/gnumake-mac-gcc.inc TARGETMODE=release TARGETTYPE=single _install_
buildsys/mac/gnumake-gcc-flext.inc:27: warning: overriding commands for target `pd-darwin/release-single'
buildsys/mac/gnumake-gcc-flext.inc:24: warning: ignoring old commands for target `pd-darwin/release-single'
install pd-darwin/release-single/libflext-pd_s.0.5.0.a /usr/local/lib
install: pd-darwin/release-single/libflext-pd_s.0.5.0.a: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [_install_] Error 71
make: *** [install-release-single] Error 2
alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~/desktop/flext alex$

So what am I doing wrong? I have gotten 4 errors in total, error 1 twice and error 2 and error 71.

Hi James,

I already had package.txt but the path in gnumake.mak was incorrect so I changed it to reflect where it is on my computer but now I get this from the console:

alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~ alex$ bash /flext/build.sh pd gcc
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your combination of platform, system and compiler is not supported yet.
Required files:
build/config-mac.def
and
build/gnumake-mac-gcc.inc
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
make: *** [build/gnumake-mac-gcc.inc] Error 1

I have these two files but it's not finding them for some reason. I don't know what I have to configure cause I'm completely new to compiling.

Seasons greetings,

I'm trying to build flext for os x but when I run build.sh in the terminal i get this message:

Last login: Tue Dec 27 00:05:04 on ttyp1
Welcome to Darwin!
alexandre-mathesons-power-mac-g5:~ alex$ bash /flext/build.sh pd gcc
/flext/buildsys/gnumake.mak:16: package.txt: No such file or directory

...this is telling you what's wrong:  there should be a package.txt in the flext/ directory, and if not, then you need to update your cvs checkout...you may also want to cd into the flext directory...
