I am looking at the same question - how to allocate engines dynamically. I can build large polyphonic structures quite easily now, although it would be nice to have this on a nother thread so PD didn't go into meltdown when a build a 12x12 sample matrix for instance.

But, what would also be nice as a feature request would be to resize the GOP window dynamically. Then I could have an alogrithmic builder system with fewer separate objects,

I'll find a way around it though. Those who've been checking this thread - if you can make it to France next week then get to the makeart festival in Poitiers. I'm unveiling my new system there. Saturday I think...

Add a feature request.  I think it makes sense to have a separate
message from donecanvasdialog since that message is meant for the
GUI, sets the dirty flag, etc.

If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of
exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an
idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps
it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into
the possession of everyone, and the receiver cannot dispossess
himself of it.            - Thomas Jefferson
