oh dear, I'm a numpty. Just tried with the latest version and there was no trouble! for some reason I hate updating versions.... when something is working I may well choose to leave things alone!
You can specify some constraints, whether the fade zone should make the
loop
shorter or whether regions outside the loop are included.
These are very comforting words, will have a look at the help file as you said. Many thanks you genius,
Matt

Hi Matt,
(think I've tried it on pd versions 0.35, 0.36 and 0.37), it complains that:- "The procedure entry point class_setpropertiesfn could not be located in
the
dynamic link library pd.dll"....
are you sure you tried with recent (0.37) versions?
One other small thing. In the crossfade capability of xgroove~, how
does
the crossfade work? Clearly you need more samples than the 'loop
length'
in
order to have some degree of overlap while maintaining the same timing. Therefore does it use samples outside the specified loop range (or
specified
read-point supplied as signal)?
Have a look at the help file.
best greetings, Thomas
