Hei,

well, thats interesting. would you know how I can convert a font to a character map? or a linux program with which I can make character maps? There was a lot of 1 and 0's in the charmap files ;)

On the topic of ascii art, I remember this one http://www.turbulence.org/spotlight/ASCII_BUSH/ very well, possibly not as haunting as when he had actual power, but still nice how the dollar signs seems to be exclusively mapped to his skin.

cheers,
martin

Ola,

pdp_ascii doesn't use font files,
but character maps, that are basically
bitmasks that can have any shapes
( pacmans, stars, space ships, ... )..

some character maps are available in
the folder charmaps in pidip,
but you can create your own,
one for halloween if you want,
they are only text files,
you can open them with any text editor.

sevy

Hello pdpeople,

is there a way to use a different font in pdp_ascii? The helpfile tells that it is possible to "load a characters map" with the same format as a file called "characters.dat", but google allmighty only returns pages about pdp saying the same thing... Does it have anything to do with fonts?

cheers,
martin
