Random thoughts:
- spaces in paths
- other weird characters in paths ("!")

That was never a problem before, and the path is valid to search and find an abstraction. Just for extra caution, I moved the folder to the desktop, no spaces or weird characters, still not working.

- (relative) symlinks

nope

- noexec mounted devices (that's in the line of a "cloud disk" but more general, e.g. usb disks). I'm not even sure this can prevent a dlopen()ing, and probably unlikely in the case of something on the desktop...

yup, nope

- some latest Apple user protection scheme

I made no system updates, this start happening out of the blue, during "cruise flight"

I guess I need to burn everything to the ground
