I haven't taken great measurements of this stuff, but from what I can remember, PD startup is very fast - I am using -nogui, it only takes a second or two.

The Model 2 seems a little faster, maybe 30 seconds or less, but unfortunately I don't think an almost instant boot time is realistic (I would LOVE to be proven wrong on this). Is the load time any different using the -nogui flag?
Also, how many abstractions are there in your patch?
