I'm having trouble finding documentation for [list]. I know I've seen it before, but I didn't take note of it.
Although in the process I discovered [addcomma $1( for 0.39. I had problems with 0.39 before, so I have been using 0.38, but I may have to try to switch. This way I can use a float to tell a message box which of a string of messages to pass on.

hi chuckk
you could try to do something with [list]. you could store the instr-names in a list. then you can get the name of the n-th instrument by getting the n-th element out of the list (see [list split]). there is also [index] from zexy, which is designed for assigning symbols to floats.
good luck roman

I am using general midi as a temporary tool. Each voice in my sequencer has a numberbox for selecting the instrument. I want to establish a list so that the label next to it will change to the name of the instrument associated with that number.
Is it possible to have a symbol in an element of an array? PD is giving me an error: error: pd-gminst.instrument: not a number error: set: no method for 'symbol'
Is there another simple way to do this?
