Has anyone ever tried controlling VLC using Pd? There are a couple possibilities, with the "rc" interface being the most likely candidate. Basically, you can send commands to a network socket to control VLC.
I am hoping someone has figured it out already, so I don't have to :D
i know that vlc has telent-style of an interface .. is that what you mean?
i'd try to use [netsend] and then open pdrecieve with it's output redirected to netcat which connects to the port vlc is listening to ...
Actually, the "rc" interface is better since it doesn't expect the other side to be interactive like the telnet interface does.
I've gotten that far, I was hoping for a fully functional, debugged implementation :D.

If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of everyone, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it. - Thomas Jefferson
