This isn't actually the point of sending a test patch... it's to help *other* people on *other systems* check that GEM itself is not broken *and* to double-check how you are using the objects & commands. Making a separate, minimal patch also isolates one problem form what could be other problems of usage, ie. layers of GL commands which might affect each other.
I agree with Cyril that a minimal patch would have been helpful. In any case, good luck.
