Hi,
I'm not using the build-in search tool of the list because I find its answer irrelevant in the most case. But I'm using a generic web search tool and say it I want to search only on http://lists.puredata.info/ http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/.
This can be done with Google with something like : site: http://lists.puredata.info/ http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/ keywords
The results are *a lot* more relevant to my eyes.

Hi list,
the biggest wealth of information about Pd might lie in the mailing list archives at http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/ Searching these archives for words which appear very often, such as "extended" "Gem" etc will return messages from the search algorithm, that these words are excluded from the results as there are too many occurrences. That might make sense, but renders the usability of the search algorithm very useless for certain requests.
Could there be a way to improve this? Or are there already other methods of searching the mailing list archive, besides downloading the raw 700+MB archive?
thanks, P
