Computer Music Workshop

Max/Msp & Pd Workshop  June 10-15, 1999
Faculty:  Miller Puckette, David Zicarelli, Zack Settel, Erik Ona, &
Cort Lippe

This year, the Computer Music Component of June in Buffalo will offer
a five day, in-depth workshop in Max/Msp & Pd. Max/Msp is powerful,
Macintosh-based software which can be used for the creation of realtime
interactive music and audio plug-ins. PD runs on PC/SGI platforms and
has added functionality for realtime 3-D graphics manipulation. We will
be accepting a maximum of 20 participants for this workshop. Applicants
should include a CV and documentation illustrating any previous
experience.
We encourage applications from beginners and experienced computer
musicians
alike. All applicants are welcome to send computer programs, Max
patches,
csound examples,  and, of course, music with their applications. We can
also accept attachments via email and will be happy to look at web sites

containing appropriate documentation. The workshop will be given at
the Hiller Computer Music Studios, which emphasizes the creation of
interactive computer music using real-time digital signal processing.

Faculty:
    Miller Puckette is a professor of music at the University of
California,
San Diego. He created Max in the late 1980=92s at IRCAM, Paris. His
recent research continues to be incorporated into Max/Msp and he
is one of the most important contributors to the field of interactive
computer music today.
    David Zicarelli is the developer of Opcode=92s Max release and is the
creator of Msp. All interested parties should view the Msp web

    Zack Settel, head of music technology at McGill University,
Montreal,
was a longtime researcher at IRCAM. He has made many important
contributions to Max/Msp, and is a well-known composer of interactive
computer music.
    Erik Ona, of the University at Buffalo, is an active composer of
interactive
computer music. He has recently received commissions from ZKM in
Karlsruhe
and IRCAM for interactive pieces.
    Cort Lippe, Director of the Hiller Computer Music Studios,
collaborated
for eight years with both Miller Puckette and Zack Settel at IRCAM on
Max and Signal Processing Max. He is an active composer and teacher
of interactive computer music.
