FYI (for Linux users) - it seems its enough to set this and write to device once (in windows vm or a windows machine) and it will work after reboot / reconnecting in Linux.

On my nanoKontroi2, you have to go into the Korg Control Editor, Under Control (tab) Common, set LED mode to external.
