Hi Daniel,

My problem was not really with problems running PD on an 'M', but with performance. I had an Athlon XP 2600 desktop which died. I borrowed some money, bought a Pentium M laptop (and anyway, I don't have a car, so I can do more gigs with this). It's supposed to do something like twice as many instructions per clock, partly due to bigger cache memory on the cpu, so I thought equivalent to a 3GHz P4, but the version of Linux I am using makes it a P3 at the raw clock speed (1.6GHz)... and that is a drag (although my optimistic developer self says "why don't you write more efficient patches") which I will. But.. I will persevere, and test the advice of Frank, Tim and Yves who say that this is a good computer, and "can do".

If it is not, I will sell to a stupid stock-market city trader, and damn the interest rates going up!

But now...I will sleep!
Best,
Ed

hi list

im on pentium M (855) too on demudi. no problems so far (unless i really want them).
and when gfx acceleration is not done in CPU, a good GPU is always a better investment.

best regards
daniel .
