does it say more than 'could not initialize' ?

do you have a libvorbis.a or more than one version of vorbis installed ?

pidip id statically linked against libvorbis.a, look this way.

Hi,

	I just built pd-0.39-2, along with pdp-12 and pidip-0.12.19 (I tried
pidip-0.12.20 first and had the same result).

The compile was successful and I was able to load both pdp and pidip at
start-up.

However, when I try to open a theora file (created with ffmpeg2theora
from a Quicktime file), the xv window is created, the frame counter
increments, but the window is black -- the file is playing, but not
displaying video.

In the pd status window I get pdp_theorin~ : could not initialize
vorbis decoder.

I'm running Linux fc4-ccrma. libvorbis is 1.1.2-4 from an atrpms rpm.
I tried various theoras -- libtheora-1.0alpha4, -1.0alpha7, plus current
CVS, both from rpm packages and compiled by hand.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

I use pidip all the time, but every time I migrate/upgrade to a new
distro, building/installing it always poses special challenges :-).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
