Oh, whoops, my apologies; that should be 'sudo nano /etc/..'. Usually when you don't have permissions to something you just need to put 'sudo' in front of it which runs the command as a 'super user.' I fixed it in the blog post.
Also, I wrote up a tutorial on using the GPIO: http://log.liminastudio.com/writing/tutorials/tutorial-how-to-use-your-raspb...

Thanks for clarifying the post and updating. I must be doing something wrong for some reason I don't have write permission to the /etc/apt/sources.list. Any idea how I can fix this?

I had Debian Squeese up and running last night but I have to say I'm not very hopeful about Pd's usability on the RPi because just running some of the RPi's native applications seemed to grind it to a halt. Are you experiencing the same? Maybe I need a Amperage PSU.

I'm hoping to try out your tutorial tonight! Have you made any attempts to address the GPIOs at all? In Pd or otherwise?

I'm getting some noise, possibly due to the beta alsa driver, but I'm looking into it...
