Barns, 601 Christie Street, Toronto
Today August 11th 2011, noon
The 2011 Canadian 60x60 mix will be presented on August 11th 2011 at noon as part of the Toronto Electroacoustic Symposium (TES) at the Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie Street, Toronto.
“60x60 contains 60 works from 60 different composers. Each composition is 60 seconds (or less) in duration sequenced together to create a one hour performance. Highlighting the work of a great many composers, 60x60 testifies to the vibrancy of contemporary composition by presenting the diverse array of styles, aesthetics and techniques being used today.”
60x60 was founded in 2003 by Rob Voisey and was presented in close to 300 concerts, dance shows, and multimedia installations worldwide. The Canadian 60x60 is a project organized by Vox Novus in collaboration with the Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC), containing 60 compositions by 60 different Canadian composers.
The current presentation at TES will be hosted by Tova Kardonne using the traditional 60x60 format: a fixed media presentation of the pieces synchronized with a large analog clock.
