is there already any way of having a backslash in a message (box)? i found some ancient stone carvings about that issue (pd-list 2002). miller said back then:

well .. actually if pd does not escape i got to escape for myself. that means that i need to find a replacement character for \ in order to translate it then back to \. if i take # as replacement and someone facing the same problems takes § then we end up with a lot more mess than using the backslash in pd can result in.
