nice one, thanks all for the tips... -nogui sounds fine by me, long as i can build the patches with the gui then upload... if somebody could help point me to documentation (or kick down some knowledge) on how to install without the tcl/tk dependency that would be great... but are there any cross-platform compatibility issues (os x to linux) i should be aware of before going this route? oh yeah & would you recommend shoutcast~ or mp3cast~ ...or something else?
thx, mk

I read:
You will also need at least alsa support if you're doing audio streaming, so check if that's installed. (I think it probably is since
no if you only want to stream on the network you need no audio hardware and no audio drivers. (actually if you plan to run -nogui and are willing to roll up your sleeves I guess one can get rid of the tcl/tk dependency aswell)
