just to conclude:
today i installed pd from the intrepid repos and this is working
beautifully.
(thanks or the tip, frank...)
gem (also from the repo) segfaults immediately
audio has to go the oss route for (more or less) working without
crackles.
seems that the eeepc901 has still some way to go. but after all, it
wasn´t mant for that either :-)
thanks to everybody hans www.hans-w-koch.net
hello patrice,
thanks fo the tips, i will try them later. (for the moment i am having difficulties installing tk..)
unfortunaltely staying with hardy is no option. i am trying to get this set up on an eeepc 901. the intrepid kernel (from www.array.org) has wifi working better. but then, also this pulseaudio-thing has its own flaws... sigh
if i don?t get it working, at least i?ll learn a good deal about linux ?s underwear on the way.

hello,
the patch I've provided is a workaround, we still haven't found how to fix this issue.
For having pd on intrepid with pd-extended features, I've compiled pd from miller's site (with ./configure --enable-jack --enable-alsa, or just have a look at ./configure --help), I did use tck-tk 8.5 so the interface is neat, downloaded last pd-extended debian package, extracted docs and extra into /usr/local/lib (you will need a bunch of dependances, but in the .deb package you have a list, in control, just take a look...), applied workaround for MIME settings (take a look into pd-list archive for that),
now I've got pd-extended with all doc all externals and icons, but
<out of subject> the intrepid kernel has a serious bug, there is a conflict between nvidia driver and hda-intel drivers from alsa,
my advice is about just staying in LTS if the computer works good... </out of subject>
good luck

hi hans,
any news on this? i tried to link to the intrepid repository for pd-extended today and no luck :-( as i am quite new to linux, i don?t know, what one would have to do, to get it compiling. chris wenn?s bloody hack mentioned earlier here: http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/2008-09/065299.html is a bit beyond me.

Marius also worked on setting it up, and helped a little bit with maintenance. But maintenance has basically all been me. There isn't much maintenance to do, the problems were caused by the host breaking and then upgrading their webserver.

hey glerm and olsen, Sorry its taking so long. I have too many things to take care of. It would be great if someone took over the maintenance of pdpedia completely so that it can live (I still have to fix the build farm too...). Claudio has gotten the basics setup on the server there, they just need to get the final details working. .hc On Oct 31, 2008, at 1:45 PM, olsen wrote:

Hello,
Yeah, it turns out that Poly isn't really working as a
host anymore and I haven't had any time to finish fixing it. If someone can host it, I can help them get it all setup. Ideally it would be a Debian box. Currently its on a Mac OS X box, and as we all can see, that hasn't turned out so well. The upgrade to Leopard killed it, now Apple's crazy apache setup and GUI tools are broken.

Seems that Pdpedia still out? How can I help? thanx glerm

no, I think it should say "-arch ppc" or something close. I do not know what is setting it to i386.

Hello all, I have an M-Audio Delta 1010LT in Fedora 8. I never installed any
drivers since it seemed to work right out of the box. I have managed to use
the 8 channels OUT, but can't get a signal into pd in any of the 8
channels IN. Has anyone else seen something like this?best,
J
