As a followup: When I do Pd workshops, I tell people to shake the mouse *then* look at the cursor if they aren't sure which mode they are in after changing. It's subtle, but helps!

…also sometimes the mouse pointer doesn't update when switching into
Edit Mode (even after moving the mouse), but I can't seem to find an
exact way to reproduce it. This hasn't been that way in 0.47
