Juto's just confused because qjackctl allows for making alsa midi connections and one can do that in the same window as the audio (different tab, though).

I just noticed that in the 0.37_devel CVS branch of pd the midi ports
are not listed with -listdev . However, you can easily test your MIDI
functionnality by trying out different settings in the Media->MIDI
settings... menu item. PD should display (and use) them correctly.
