I am thinking in migrating to linux and considering small versions of it in order to boost speed, like>

-damm small linux
-puppy linux
-fluxbuntu

I'am not a deep tech guy (not referring to music style, which I like), so the questions are>

1-have anyone try these small OS before? if so... does it improve puredata performance?
2-are there any known bugs for puredata in these linux?
3-any of these three versions recomended?
4-any linux version recomended (besides these, if these are not recomended)?

my hardware is not really slow (hp pavilion dv1680 core duo 1.83 ghz 1 Gb ram) so I thought using Ubuntu Studio (real time kernell sounds good, although it is chinese for me) but some comments on the web says it does not make a great speed difference migrating from xp and I would really like my machine to fly at the highest speed posible.

Thanks

Best
