I would pick up an old rackmount ethernet switch and use static ips. I imagine wireless would work, but you're asking for trouble if you don't get an industrial wifi router.
As for software, I'd echo using OpenFrameworks. The current version (0.8.0) now supports the RPI and there is an OMX video player class which can run with hardware acceleration. It would be simple to code a single, custom video player app that listens over OSC to start, stop, set frame position, etc. Said app would read from an xml file to know which video to load, so you don't have to hardcode anything.
You will not be able to do this with PD alone on the RPI since, as mentioned before, GEM currently has no OPENGL ES support on the RPI.
Email me if you guys need help/have a budget, although my timeframe is a little cramped right now.

It's a live band, with precomposed videos playing back (with stop/start variations) across a bunch of analogue TVs placed on stage, all in sync with the sound. We don't know yet to what extent the result will be predetermined or generative but as long as there is the possibility of controlling the overall visual rhythm... The live sound from each instrument is also being transformed through lots of DSP in pd. So it's a complex setup and it needs to be reliable as we'll be taking the show on the road at some point.

We are delighted to announce the release of the Integra Module Creator — a new tool for creating Integra Live modules using the Pure Data programming environment.
Module Creator supports Mac OS X 10.6 or later and Windows XP or later. It can be downloaded from the Integra Live download site: https://sourceforge.net/projects/integralive/files (on Windows it comes bundled with the main installer)
Module Creator provides a seamless workflow for:
* Defining module parameters including ranges, allowed values, types and widgets
* Laying out module widgets in a graphical editor
* Creating module implementations using the Pure Data programming environment
* Testing modules in the Integra Live software
* Exporting modules to be loaded into the Integra Live module library

Hi all, I'm following this example (receiving a simple message)
https://flossmanuals.net/pure-data/ch065_osc/
with processing. (using oscP5)
I'm sure processing code is right and working. I cannot recive anything in Pd instead. I set up the port number properly but Pd does not print out anything. Could anyone make this working?
thank you
P.
Hello,
I've just installed archlinux through Manjaro and tried pdx aur package.
pacman -U pd-extended.tar.gz command line outputs errors like this:
error: missing package metadata in pd-extended.tar.gz
What can I do to solve this?

I'm really not familiar with video, but a project I'm working on requires
20 different video outputs, all synced together. I'm using PD for the
project. Consideration of the expenses apart, does anyone know what kind of
hardware we would need for this?
Many Thanks
Peiman
