I made a quick plugin that lets you cycle thru the open windows in Pd using Ctrl/Cmd-< and Ctrl/Cmd->. It's attached, it should work on all platforms. .hc

If you want to compare, you can download Olli Parviainen's SoundStretch utility, which processes soundfiles in batch mode. See: http://www.surina.net/soundtouch/ You'll very probably notice the same shivering effect as in soundtouch~-help.pd. This is inherent to time domain time stretching / pitch shifting. Katja

PdDroidParty Load and save...

Hi, I tried using the [loadsave] abstraction that Chris McCormick wrote for PdDroidParty yesterday. It doesn't work... Does anyone know if it is supposed to work with any version of Android? I think my girlfriend's phone uses 2.2. Cheers! Pierre

[PD-announce] Shameless Musical Self-Promotion

Hey all, I have some recent recordings I would very much like to share: HELOpg (Huddersfield Experimental Laptop Orchestra post-grad) recently recorded 3 Text Scores of mine and they are here: http://soundcloud.com/julianbrooks Software is a combination of Pd and Puredyne (me), Max/MSP, Renoise and ChucK. Plus mic's, sensors and stuff. Here's a video of a piece for acoustic instrument and electronics which was recorded with Pat Allison on clarinet. http://vimeo.com/27899654 I'm aware that the documentation is a bit sketchy and the video is very basic; it's the first technical run through but hopefully you get the gist. All made in Pd and I'm happy to share the patch but it's well sketchy (patch also includes an extensive list of thank you's to the various people who helped me get this thing together. Of course, I take all the credit for any errors. "new from template" plugin

pob came up with this idea in #dataflow, and I couldn't resist implementing it. It seems like a good idea. This plugin inserts a menu item to the File menu called "New from template". When you select this menu item, it creates a new patch from the template.pd file that is included in this plugin. You can modify the template.pd however you want and it'll use it. Also, you can set the default folder that it creates the new patch in by replacing this line: variable defaultfolder [file join $::env(HOME) Documents] with something like: variable defaultfolder /path/to/my/favorite/folder Enjoy! .hc

drag-n-drop support in Pd-extended (TkDND)

Patko and I just got TkDND working on Windows and included Pd-extended 0.43. That means tomorrows nightly build should have it included, and its ready for scripting with. TkDND allows Pd to handle drag-n-drop events, so you can do things like drop a file onto the Pd window to open it (implemented in the attached plugin) or drop a pd patch onto a canvas to make an object (also kind of implemented in the plugin). There are lots of interesting ideas possible, I'm hoping you will play with it and see what kinds of stuff we can do. I forgot who originally implemented the TkDND stuff for Pd, but this is based on that work, so thanks for that. .hc

Hi all, I would like to get the sound of my kernel into pd. cat /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-30-generic > /dev/dsp should be a command I can get the sound of my kernel into the speakers with. However, while I remember having done similar before, right now, on this machine there doesn't even seem to be a /dev/dsp present... also, how would I get this into pd? thanks, Tim
