OK... now I'm hesitating between "snake~ in", "snake~ out" and "snake~ tap"
or "join~", "split~", and "tap~"...

Former is more colorful (and crowds the namespace less).  Latter might be
easier for non-native English speakers to deal with?

As a non-native speaker who teaches to lots of non-native speakers I don't see much of a problem... when people don't the word you have to explain anyway and if I have to explain about 'snake' I see the benefit of teaching how the multicable hardware is called in english.

By the way, fun fact, here in Brazil, instead of 'snake' we use 'medusa' :) I like the opportunity to also teach this term to local students who just deal with phones and computers and don't have studio/stage/P.A. experience.
