It seems the only thing I had to do through the graphical front-end was to launch a terminal, type 'gcc' and then I got prompted for an automatic download and installation of the necessary tools (even git came with that). Fair enough. After having enabled SSH, I was able to do the rest from CLI and I even got some simple libraries compiled - with the pd-lib-builder Makefile. Yes, I'm using it.
I didn't expect it to be that easy.

Hey all
I got access to a pristine OS X (10.9) virtual machine I can use for building. Before I start my journey, I need some advice from the experienced:
- Do I need XCode? (and thus an Apple-ID?)
- How do I install all other necessary tools (git, etc.)? I heard about
homebrew, fink, macports...
- Once things are set up, is it feasible to have completely CLI based
workflow?
Some hints are much appreciated as I am much more interested what Pd people use/do and not so much what iOS devs do.
