Ok, I just tested the Mac OS X 64-bit build of Pd-double and it is
indeed double precision. I say we start announcing it and spreading
the word to get people testing it, and maybe fixing up their code and/
or contributing to fixing things.
Katya, do you want to post such an announcement to pd-announce? I
think we should also try to get it posted on the Create Digital Music
blog. It would nice to have example patches of what double precision
enables. I'll do one that uses 32-bit …

Hi Hans & IOhannes & Martin
I'd love to have the iemnet library included in Pd-extended and wanted
to hear other opinions.
I'd do the work, if everyone agrees.

Summary: Increasing maximum size of alsa midi input
Initial Comment:
I've made the input size configurable and the default size larger so that we can accept much larger messages, very useful for sysex input.
Essentially taken from desire data I think, quite a while ago.

Today I wanted to find out what cyclone needs to be made
double-precision-ready. To start with, I tried to just build the
current code together with the pd-double core. I followed the howto on
http://puredata.info/docs/developer/WorkingWithPdExtendedSources to
get the sources complete, with the difference that core code is in
pd-double.git instead of pd-extended.git. For developing I wanted to
use 'Selective Approach' as discussed on mentioned page. In my
pd-double/extra/ I created a symbolic …
[View More]link to my
pd-svn/externals/miXed/cyclone.
Then the howto says: 'Build everything inside pd-extended.git'. I did that with:
./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-double-precision
sudo make install
A double precision pd is built as usual, but not with cyclone
included. Funny enough, cyclone showed up as an (empty) entry amidst
the extra's in the help browser, when I loaded the freshly built pd
for the first time. But the second time that was gone.
What should I do to include cyclone in the build process?

Summary: mrpeach/routeOSC: bug with depth > 1 OSC address
Initial Comment:
Recently support for specifying deeper than one level OSC address patterns was introduced. When using such a deep pattern, [routeOSC] prepends an empty symbol, if the pattern matches the whole address of the incoming OSC message.
See attached patch for an example.

If I don't do that it keeps saying
make: Nothing …
[View More]to be done for `all'
also I've added
CXX=g++
because i'm using mingw, and it starts compile :)
Now the Makefile doesn't provide pd/src files I need to include, so for getting it I had to make another hack
# PD_INCLUDE = $(PD_PATH)/include/pd
PD_INCLUDE = $(PD_PATH)/src
and
# PD_PATH = $(shell cd "$$PROGRAMFILES/pd" && pwd)
PD_PATH = ../../../pd
then it compiles fine but would this work on another platform?
maybe you could give a try?

Summary: add proper quoting of filenames to GUI prefs
Initial Comment:
On Mac OS X, then GUI prefs system was not handling quoting of filenames at all. The first patch adds proper quoting, then the second patch brings pd_guiprefs.tcl inline with the coding style of the rest of the Pd GUI code (using namespaces, the 'else' keyword, etc).

Hello, all,
I would like to introduce myself and humbly request to be a Pd committer.
Following http://puredata.info/docs/developer/SVNCommitAccess
this is the required info:
My name is Ricardo Fabbri and I have been working with free software
since 1999, specializing in computer vision and image processing.
During my PhD I worked on 3D reconstruction algorithms and video camera
self-calibration, and have also worked for Google in applications of
related technology for the scanning and …
[View More]indexing of books and other print
material. I have recently returned to Brazil where I helped found the
free software group Lab Macambira (labmacambira.sf.net), together with
my brother Renato Fabbri, Vilson Vieira, and others. We are currently
a team of 15.
My brother had a significant influence in Pd Con that was held in
Brazil, as well as in the rise of the Brazilian Pd and Linux community. My
brother is a composer and is doing graduate work in computational
physics. I was actually the one who introduced him to Pd and Linux
back in the days when he was working with Max. We were also joined by
Gilson Beck, another composer who got hooked on Pd. Currently, my
direct interests with Pd development are to support the demands from
these composers, but, mainly, to support Pd as a core component of our
real-time video processing stack. We use Pd for guiding C++ modules
linked to OpenCV and VXL.
We also use Scilab as a quick prototyping language for new algorithms.
As you can see, Pd is the guiding master of our systems, so it is
crucial for us to have a development grip on it. Commit access is
important as we would like to develop this key component with you. You
can count on our painstaking care not to break anything and our
willing service to improve Pd. Perhaps with a commit access it will
make it easier to do small improvements and documentation, for a
start, or bigger things such as adding completely new functionality.
Our concrete plans for developing Pd are related to pix_opencv: adding
new functionality,
providing bugfixes, and modifying pix_opencv_bgstats to allow for
different background modeling algorithms,
and also profiling it to make it faster and more responsive. We plan
to help maintain puredata_opencv in general,
as well as helping you guys out with whatever you need. We were also
thinking about helping to migrate
the community pd-svn repository to Git, or even Gem to Git, so that at
least all our repos are under the same version control.
Any suggestions on how to help are more than welcome. We are very glad
to be interacting with you.
SF user: ricardofabbri.
Optionally, Vilson's SF user: vilsonvieira and My brother's: greenkobold
Best regards,
Ricardo

Summary: updated configure.ac for puredata_opencv
Initial Comment:
basically newer autoconf require AC_INIT to have some mandatory arguments,
so this patch is strictly necessary for continuing development of puredata_opencv. without this patch autoconf will not generate configure from configure.ac.

Dear Lluis,
thank you.
The AC_PREREQ(2.65) is fine if it has worked for you. There was no
specific reason for 2.67, other than the fact that I tested on mine and was
only sure it worked on 2.67 in practice.
I tested the commit on my system and it seems to work fine.

hi ricardo,
the patch is working here, however I'm not able to use your configure.ac's
as my configure is still 2.65 (ubuntu 10.4)
I changed the value of AC_PREREQ to 2.65 and now works here ... I don't
know if there is any reason to require 2.67 .. is it?
tha patch is applied but this way (AC_PREREQ(2.65)) , ok?
thanks,

Message:
Dear Lluis,
I uploaded a newer patch where I squashed two commits into a single one
before generating the patch.
I hope it works now.
I will write to Hans so that he can give me commit access to do some of
these small changes. That way I take less of your time (while keeping you
informed, of course).
This patch is very important as I've been having to e-mail the new
"configure" files around so that people working with me and also other
friends can compile pix-opencv with the latest OpenCV.
Thanks.

Summary: tcl-package "registry" is missing in Pd-0.43.1 (w32)
Initial Comment:
i tried to run Pd-0.43.1test4 for w32 and ran into some problems with "package registry not found", which would then hang Pd.
afaict, these are the steps to reproduce (though i'm unsure, as the bug was triggered by a collegue and i was only called for rescue :-))
- start Pd-0.43.1test4
- add some paths/libs/... via the preferences and "save" them (this will create a registry entry for Pd)
- close Pd
- start Pd again and open a patch
- tcl/tk error appears about "package registry not found"
- the patch window becomes unmoveable
- Pd won't react any more
it seems like the "registry" package is unconditionally required on w32 in the pd_guiprefs.tcl file.
the tcl/tk that comes with Pd-0.43.1test4 (which is wish8.4) seems to lack the "registry" package.
replacing wish84 with wish85 (and accompanying libraries; i simply copied them from a PdExtended install) seems to have this problem fixed.
i would highly recommend to ship Pd-0.43 with wish8.5
(additionally, the "package require registry" should be protected by a catch{} clause)
