about the automata ::::::
Automata_Sonoro_v001 (generative sound machina) is a software
programmed in Pure Data for generating real-time sound compositions.
It creates compositions from 7 small sound seeds (samples of 5-15
seconds) with which it generates 7 files of 1 min, to be with those
who play after, transforming and mixing them iteratively in a
mechanical evolution, growth and deterioration. Its based on the
Fractal model and somehow with more conceptual distance also inspired
by the work of Alvin Lucier "I'm sitting in a room" 1969.
All of this does not chase to carry out strictly fractal music, but born of
an
interest to know and experiment with these math-concepts and
strategies looking for a king of organic unpredicatability, noncontrol
and chaos with which creatively play during the live perfomance.

PRESENTING the PURE DATA BENJOLIN
The Benjolin is a standalone synthesizer designed by Rob Hordijk from
the Netherlands in 2009 and available as an open hardware project
online. It contains two oscillators (one LFO and one VCO), a voltage
controlled filter and a circuit called a “Rungler”, which allows chaotic
cross-modulation possibilities between the different parts of the
circuit. Hordijk refers to the Benjolin as a circuit which has been
“bent by design.”
This Pure Data implementation of the Benjolin was coded by Derek Holzer
in SEP-NOV 2016 in Helsinki, after several years of producing customized
hardware Benjolins from his Berlin studio. The Pd Benjolin includes some
modifications of the original design, including a Looping switch, an
external Filter Source and an External Clock Source.

Greetings, and apologies for any cross-postings.
This is to present three opportunities for those of you who are interested
in composing for high-density loudspeaker arrays (HDLAs).
First, the Computer Music Journal is soliciting letters on the subject of
composing computer music for HDLAs.
Please see http://www.computermusicjournal.org/HDLA-forum.html
Second, The Spatial Music Workshop at Virginia Tech will take place between
July 30 - August 3, 2017. This is an opportunity for composers, sound
artists, and audio researchers to learn about spatial audio and work with
the 139-loudspeaker system in the Cube at Virginia Tech
Please see: http://www.icat.vt.edu/content/2017-spatial-music-workshop
Finally, Cube Fest at Virginia Tech will take place between August 3 - 6,
2017. This is a festival designed to present works conceived for HDLAs.
Attendees of the Spatial Music Workshop receive free admission to all Cube
Fest events.
Please see: https://www.icat.vt.edu/content/cube-fest-2017
Any questions, please contact me by email (ericlyon(a)vt.edu).
Best wishes,
Eric
