Hello,
next tuesday, 19th January, will be the third meeting of Pure Data users
in Berlin.
For more information, look up
http://puredata.info/community/organization/pd-berlin/pd-berlin-users-group.
We also encourage you to take an active part, and put up suggestions for
topics you want to talk about / topics you want to be talked about.
Doors are open from 20h-20h15. After that they'll be probably closed, and
you will have to call someone at NK to get in. To get a telephone number
to call or confirm assistance you can write to info_at_minitronics.net.
We would apreciate if you would send us a small mail to
info_at_minitronics.net with your name, Pd experience and interests, so
that we know how many people might be coming. Or put your name in the
pd-berlin wiki page.
We would like to thank the support and willingness of NK in the
organization of these events.

Sorry for the added noise, this meant for the Pd list, not Pd-announce...

This is a new one to me, but four of my students can reproduce it
every time with Mac OS 10.6, with or without JACK, using Pd-Extended
0.41.4. Unplugging or plugging the headphones while Pd is running
freezes Pd completely, requiring a Force Quit. It does this regardless
of whether audio processing is turned on or off. I tried looking at
Aggregate Devices, however the built-in output already appears as one
device. Anybody know how to fix this one?

Now that Firmata 2.1 is released and included in Arduino 0018, we have
a new beta release for the Pduino [arduino] object. There were lots
of cleanups and fixes on test and help patch, and the addition of
symbols like "input", "analog", etc. to the [pinMode ( message.
http://at.or.at/hans/pd/objects.html#pduino
I tested this on a Diecimila and original Arduino. These are the only
Arduinos I have, so testing and bug reports on those are very
helpful. There are no outstanding bugs that I know of, if I hear of
no other bugs, I think this one will be the final release!

*ElectroSmog Festival at Medialab-Prado
*
*on March 18, 2010 from 4 pm to 11 pm*
Venue: Medialab-Prado · Plaza de las Letras, C/ Alameda, 15 Madrid (Spain)
difusion (at) medialab-prado.es
http://medialab-prado.es/article/electrosmog_festival
Join us at the ElectroSmog festival! From March 18 through 20 this event
will propose a critique of the worldwide explosion of mobility, and an
exploration of the new forms of connectedness with others offered to us
by network and communication technologies. The program includes
international debates and discussions, performances and art projects
that will be streamed live through the Festival's website
http://www.electrosmogfestival.net/. The public will be able to
participate *locally from Medialab-Prado* or *on-line through the web
interface*, that allows to post comments and vote.
Medialab-Prado participates in this international event with the
following activities [live streaming from Medialab-Prado's website]:
*4 pm - 6 pm: Debate about Hyper-Mobility (+ presentation of /In the
Air/ project)*
Hyper-mobility poses a myriad of challenges for urban planners: How
is urban planning responding to conditions of hyper-mobility? Are
networking technologies playing a role in policies and actions? +
Presentation of "In the Air" project, collaboratively developed
during Visualizar'08 and Visualizar'09 workshops in Medialab-Prado.
Presented by Nerea Calvillo, author.
*6 pm - 8 pm: Riverrun: A collective and experimental online artwork
workshop* (previous registration at medialab-prado's website)
Riverrun could be described as an emergent Exquisite Corpse.
Creators collaborate in the making of a collective story in real
time. Each person participates, using their own computer (client),
by writing a small part of a collective story. A session of at least
four parallel experiments: two in English and two in Spanish. These
collective writing experiments will involve both local and online
participation. Developed by artist Kevin McCourt and theoretical
physicist Bartolo Luque.
*9 pm - 11 pm: Debate about City and Country Branding
*
City and regional branding strategies contribute disproportionally
to increased travel and mobility, both for touristic purposes as
well as for professional travel and conference-mania. But from an
ecological point of view, however, the branding strategy is highly
questionable. Are cities and regions economically viable at all
without effective branding and promotion strategies?
Participants in Medialab-Prado: Ana Méndez, moderator, Isidro López
(Observatorio Metropolitano) and Eva Ramos López (Town Planning and
Housing Area, Madrid City Council)

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Blank Pages Sessions use Pure Data or Max/Msp for creating sounds/video by
live programming, starting from a blank page, without loading or saving
patches. Participants make sounds/music for one hour, after that the
session ends.
There will be two Blank Pages Sessions in Munich. To participate, please
fill out the registration form, which can be found on the Blank Pages
homepage. No hosting possible. The Blank Pages Session in Munich is

Hi all
I dug into deb packaging and published the results on a PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~reduzierer/+archive/rdz-pd-extra+deps
Supported are:
Ubuntu Karmic (amd64, i386, lpia)
Ubuntu Jaunty (amd64, i386, lpia)
I hope this works for you (please report back, if not).
I had troubles building libgmerlin-avdec1 on Intrepid, that is why there
is no [readanysf~] for Intrepid. Hardy seems to involve even more work
and I don't know, if it is possible at all.
