Hi together,
I try to to work with a logitech quickcam pro 9000 with gem. The 00.SimpleVideo.pd patch does not work for me. It seems like it doesn't recognize the cam.
Has someone experience with this cam and GEM?
Best
Daniel
System Ubuntu Hardy
pd-extended 4.03 GEM: ver: 0.91.1 'tigital'
kernel Linux version 2.6.24-21-generic
The cam shows up under /dev video0

it might be that your card only has video4linux2 drivers. unfortunately Gem's video4linux-2 support is currently not really functional; the video4linux (that is: video4inux-1) does work fine however.
did you try loading the v4l1-compat compatibility module?
does the camera work with other software (xawtv for starters; however, xawtv does have full video4linux-2 support)

I think the card uses video4linux2. the v4l1-compat module was already loaded. xawtv seems not to work on my system. thanks for your help.

if not even xawtv is working, then i think chances are slim that any other application will be able to do so. (xawtv being the reference implementation using the v4l-API)
nevertheless a quick google showed me that there do exist some tutorials on how to make the camera work, so i suggest you go through them, and once you are able to grab frames from any application, we go and try to make it work with Gem.
on a related note: it seems that libv4l is going to be included in debian soon (probably once the lenny release is done and package inclusion returns to normal); i hope this will be the solution to the v4l-2 disaster...

I couldnt try out the cam with xawtv because it is crushing when I start it. I will try it on another Linux machine.
Thanks again for your help. I will go through the tutorials you mentioned.
Best
